Definitions:
Gangs: A group of people working together to an unlawful end.
Abuse: The improper usage or treatment for a bad purpose, often to unfairly gain benefit. Abuse can come in many forms, such as: physical/verbal maltreatment, injury, sexual assault, violation, rape, verbal aggression or crime.
Drug/Alcohol Abuse: Excessive use of a drug or substance without medical justification.

Suggestions on How to help:1. Be a role model and model appropriate behavior at all times.
2. Acknowledge pain and emotions. 3. Report any questionable abuse or hurtful activity. 4. Create a safe environment for your students and children. 5. Use the school's counseling services. |
Activity:"Big Buddies" or "Pen Pals"
Pair your students up with an older classroom. Have the students write their buddies notes and schedule a meeting time once a week for them to catch up and talk. This will establish a positive role model in their life, and they will hopefully have someone to talk to and confide in. |
